Taken by the Beast
by Conner Kressley and Rebecca Hamilton
A Sexy Beauty and the Beast Spin Off
When Charisse Bellamy takes the job at New Haven’s first ever Night Club, it’s only intended as a short term solution to make ends meet. But she soon discovers there is no resisting the pull of her new boss, Abram. Despite worrying how her feelings for Abram will impact her budding relationship with police deputy Dalton, she can’t seem to stay away, and it’s not until a missing girl is found chained up in Abram’s home that this beauty realizes one of her romantic interests is a beast.
“I was here to reset, and you can’t
reset if you keep rewinding.”
Of course there is also the scene from chapter 10….
When Char’s career and life hit rock bottom, she has no other choice but to move back home. Home, to the little town of New Haven. She discovers that life in the small town isn’t as she remembers it. A recent string of unsolved missing persons and murder cases has the whole town on alert; the long time residents and the new, rich hoity-toity residents live in fear. Of what? Char isn’t quite sure. All she knows is that the murder victims and missing people – all women- hold an eerily similar resemblance to her own reflection.
Reading Taken by the Beast, was comparable to watching my favorite addictive TV series, I was fully engrossed and successfully tuned everything out around me. The words played like a movie in my imagination.
Beauty and the Beast has forever been my favorite fairy tale, and any rendition of it subsequently. Especially the more adult themed retelling. Although, with such great expectations from my all time favorite tale. I can also be easily disappointed. This time, however, I was not.
The only thing keeping this book from a 5 scream review, were the numerous errors that effected readability. The story was fantastic, with just enough of the underlying theme from my favorite classic mixed with Rebecca and Conner’s clever spin on the story. The ruggedly steamy hotness that went along with it didn’t hurt either.
