Flawed and Damaged (Damaged Hearts Book 1)
By Emily Krat
Two people haunted by their past…
The collision of two damaged hearts…
Meet Elizabeth Williams. She is at the airport on an important work assignment. If everything goes smoothly, after three years of hard work, she’ll get a promotion and a much-needed raise. Elizabeth is putting her life back on track after it was ripped out from under her feet four years ago when she lost her parents along with all her dreams. Standing here, she believes her life is going to change for the better any moment now. Nothing can go wrong, right?
Meet Ryan Price. He came to Moscow on business. Right now, Ryan is standing at the airport looking at a ‘present’ from his brother, judging by the sign a beautiful young woman is holding. Damn his brother for not cancelling this arrangement as Ryan asked.
Miscommunications and misunderstandings and a love story begins.
There will be a scary flight, lovely breakfasts, long evening conversations, sharing a secret or two, discovering one another, a lot of laughter, tender moments and some tears, a fight and, of course, the I-am-ready-for-the-end-of-the-world kiss.
Somewhere along the way, they won’t be able to fight their feelings any longer.
For the first time in his life, Ryan will experience a different shade of lust. And for the first time in her life, Elizabeth will have to trust despite all of the times she has been hurt.
Will these two wounded lost souls find love, peace and comfort in each other or will they just break each other more? Is it a train wreck of a love story or a happily ever after?

This review is a little difficult for me to write, I have been through the book two times. The first was just to read, the second was to be sure that I had scored the rating correctly, both times resulted in the same thoughts. She jumped the gun when she hit publish.
You see, I have just now realized what it is to be a critical and honest reviewer.
When I was growing up my mom lived, breathed, and preached “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say nothing at all.” Even today, she still practices these wise words. Needless to say I am a Disney kid, and Bambi was a favorite of mine.
This review has been one of the most difficult for me to write and post, it is the first time I haven’t had the opportunity to opt out of a review because I have to step out of my comfort zone to be critical. Honest.
The second half of this book was the half I enjoyed the most, it was when the author seemed more comfortable and confident writing a story from dual points of view. Unfortunately, the first half was lacking quite a bit, it seemed like the author ctrl+c and ctrl+v-ed when switching character view points. I initially dubbed this work erroneous and repetitive.
The idea of the story itself, if you enjoy contemporary romance, is great. The drama that goes along with genre type is on point. The entire essence of the story makes for a great read, all the parts and pieces are there and in order, but if you can’t and won’t read past the first part you will never truly and fully appreciate it.
It was quite an amazing journey to see how Emily Krat grew as an author inside the purlieus of the pages. I just wish she would have gone back to rewrite and self edit the first portion of the book.
With all that said, I am looking forward to the continuation in this series. Flawed and Damaged finishes strong, and Krat shows a lot of promise.
